They're Not Dolls, They're Action Figures!

Toyfare is teaming with Hasbro to allow fans to select which figure they want made as an exclusive. Among your choices are Gambit, the Beaubier Twins, Magneto and Lilandra. My vote is for Northstar but please choose as you'd please. I'm a huge fan of this series of figures and hope others will get into the collecting spirit with them

Geeks Inherit the Comedy Gene

Sure this may be the year of the geek, then again they said that last year as well. Anyways this year does bring a little gem of a comedy on CBS with perhaps the geekiest cast ever. The Big Bang Theory is not only funnier than it has any right to be, but portrays geeks in a far more authentic way than NBC's spy-dramedy Chuck. Highlights of the show are definately Sheldon, the OCD roommate whose social awkwardness is masked between a bitingly deadpan wit. Even the sexy neighbor seems to be played as more than just the dumb girl next door. While there have only been three episodes it is totally worth checking, perhaps you'll see someone you know reflected in the characters, maybe you'll even see yourself.

Episode Review

An American Family

What I liked: Kevin and Sarah on the phone, Nora, Kitty, and Kevin’s road trip, Justin’s refusal to take painkillers. Holly being a bitch towards Sarah

What I didn’t like: Casting Eric Winter when he’s committed to CBS makes the Kevin/Jason relationship cliché as hell. Sure was a quick tour in Iraq right Justin? Joe is starting to resemble Jesus, a really skeezy looking Jesus. Hey Saul, we know you’re gay, you’re nephew is gay so nobody is really going to care all that much, come out already!

Random Thought: Now that Justin’s back, I bet Julia’s screen time is going to be cut down to her usual 30 seconds per episode

Overall: While I have issues with this season in genreal, this episode played to Brothers & Sisters’ major strength, which is the relationships between members of the Walker Clan.

Metal Gear Online

I'm not sure how I feel yet about this being released as a stand alone game, it'd best be better than Halo 3 multiplayer if they expect gamers to shell out extra money for it.

A Show You'd Better Start Watching!

Torchwood

Three words: Sex, Guns, Aliens

Did that get your attention? Then perhaps you should locate BBC America on your cable box and give this show a chance. Already a huge hit in the UK, this series, a spin-off of the fantastic Dr. Who series chronicles the adventures of Captain Jack Harkness and his coworkers at Torchwood, an agency outside the government that investigates alien activity. Think of this as X-Files if Mulder and Scully had sex with each other, and everyone else in the department, and I do mean everyone. Darker than its parent show but still retaining a sense of humor Torchwood is a must watch for sci-fi fans looking for something a bit more grown up than the usual fare. Oh and John Barrowman who plays Jack Harkness is perhaps the best unknown actor of our time. Search him up on Youtube and you’ll see what I mean.

Check out BBCAmerica.com for more info on the show

Welcome to Oz

No this isn't a gritty prison drama, but rather Tin Man, the miniseries coming to The Sci-Fi Channel this December starring the amazing Zoey Deschanel. Ever since Sci-Fi struck gold with their BSG miniseries and subsequent series I'll check out anything the channel offers. Doesn't mean I'll like it (I'm looking at you Flash Gordon) but I'll give it a look.

Weekend Box-Office

1. The Game Plan $16.3 Million
2. The Heartbreak Kid $14 Million
3. The Kingdom $9.34 Million
4. Resident Evil: Extinction $4.3 Million
5. The Seeker: The Dark is Rising $3.73 Million

Looks like Comedy Veteran Ben Stiller lost out to The Rock, who stayed in the top spot for the second weekend in a row. Resident Evil still makes it in the top 5, further proof that Milla Jovovich has made some sort of deal with Satan...
